Expedition Leader

Ozturk from Istanbul University Faculty of Fisheries was the expedition leader. Also with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arda Tonay, they observed sea mammals; species, number of individuals, position, time, individuals identified by photographs.
He is also a member of PolReC Scientific Board.
Expedition Co-Leader
a
Ozsoy Cicek who is the director of Istanbul Technical University Polar Research Center (PolReC) was deputy expedition leader as well as observed sea ice. In-situ observations verify satellite remote sensing datas which can be used for large area observations. In addition she answer questions of middle school students about polar researchs from Turkey during expedition via satellite mobile phone connection.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halim Aytekin Ergül
Expedition Co-Leader

Ergül who is lecturer of Kocaeli University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology took samples from marine sediments around Galindez Island to measure organic and inorganic pollutants accumulates there.
He is also a member of PolReC Scientific Board.

Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine member of Aktas created Turkish Antarctic Health Standard Framework. Health inspection of all TARE 2016 participants was carried out in the framework. Also he was responsible about team’s health.
He is also a member of PolReC Scientific Board.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. İzzet Noyan Yılmaz

Yılmaz who is taking part in Istanbul University, Marine Science and Management Institute, took samples of Antarctic krills the world’s highest biomass, the zooplankton and phytoplankton, to study rates between spices.
He is also a member of PolReC Scientific Board.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akif Sarıkaya

Sarıkaya who takes duty in Istanbul Technical University Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences, took 10 different samples of rocks to analyse cosmogenic isotopes to find that when these rocks had taken this region by the glaciers. The retreat of the glaciers also provide information on climate change.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gökhan Halıcı

Halıcı, Erciyes University Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, working with about 50 different lichen species in samples taken over Galindez Island, identifying known species or discovery if unknown species. In addition antioxidants of lichen extract is available in the study.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Arda Tonay
Tonay, lecturer of Istanbul University, Faculty of Fisheries, observed marine mammals in Southern Ocean (50% biomass of all oceans) and determined by the distribution of the population. Also he recorded marine mammals by photos, videos, positions, time, species and numbers of individuals.

Gözcelioğlu is working inThe Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) ‘s popular science magazine Bilim Genç. As a biologists he took samples from sea algae, lichens and bottom sediment, made planting to medium. He also recorded all the work of TARE 2016 researchers , during the expedtion and released them named “Antarctic Diary” in Bilim Genç magazine.
Melike İdil Öz

Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Department of Fisheries Technology lecturer Öz has received 16 samples of fishes from 2 trap. She is working on samples to identify stomach contents, ages, reproductive and genetics of samples from 2 to different families.
